One hundred days after the Supreme Court overruled Roe v. Wade and ended the constitutional right to an abortion, public approval of the court has dropped to historic lows as it prepares to open its new term on October 3rd. According to a Gallup poll, 47 percent of Americans said they have at least a “fair amount” of trust in the judicial branch, representing a 20-percentage-point drop from 2020, including 7 points since 2021. In the wake of the ruling in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, many Democrats, including President Biden, are seeking to use the Court’s rightward turn as a way to galvanize turnout ahead of the 2022 midterm elections.

ROKK co-founding partner and Democratic strategist Rodell Mollineau sat down with the Hill and discussed how the current state of the court could help Democrats down the road. Read the article here.

Republicans are facing an increasingly uphill battle in New Hampshire’s Senate race as polls show their chosen candidate, Don Bolduc, losing ground to Sen. Maggie Hassan (D) in the 2022 midterms. Observers had long seen Hassan as one of the most vulnerable Democratic incumbents in the upper chamber, but that changed in the primaries when GOP voters chose Bolduc, a hard-right candidate aligned with former President Trump, as the party’s nominee. Jeff Grappone, ROKK Senior Vice President and former aide to two Republican senators from New Hampshire, spoke with the Hill about whether Gen. Bolduc can turn his campaign around in time before the Nov. 8 general election. Read the article here.

When Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis orchestrated flights sending migrants and asylum seekers from San Antonio, Texas, to Martha’s Vineyard, Massachusetts, many observers saw a stunt aimed at raising the Republican’s political profile ahead of a potential 2024 White House run. However, according to GOP operatives, the move also gave Republicans running for Congress the opportunity to focus on illegal immigration and border security, topics they’ve clamored to put at the center of the fall’s 2022 midterm elections. In Business Insider, ROKK Senior Vice President Jeff Grappone discusses whether the migrant trafficking lawsuit will have lasting damage to the party or DeSantis’ suspected presidential ambitions in 2024. U.S. legislators are running out of time to pass several pending bills related to reining in the power of Big Tech before the focus shifts to campaigning in this year’s 2022 midterm elections. Seats in both chambers of Congress are up for grabs, and policy analysts say Republicans have a strong chance of taking control of the U.S. House of Representatives during the midterm elections. If that occurs, the new House leadership is expected to set a different tone on tech regulation, with Republicans likely to resurface concerns about platform censorship over antitrust regulations. ROKK Co-founding Partner Rodell Mollineau spoke to S&P Global and discussed Big Tech and how these political and partisan fights are playing out. Read the article here.

President Biden has been saying that he plans to run for a second term, but with the 2022 midterms approaching, most Democrats aren’t sure he will follow through on that plan.
