DC Communicators Forum: A Conversation with NOTUS’s Jasmine Wright, Alex Roarty and Brad Bosserman
The media landscape continues to shift for communicators in Washington: new media outlets establishing themselves, existing newsrooms shrinking and a system of influence that involves all of it. One of these new media outlets is NOTUS (soon-to-be The Star) and is at the forefront of the changes in Washington.
At the latest DC Communicators Forum, Jasmine Wright, White House Correspondent at NOTUS, Alex Roarty, Reporter at NOTUS and Brad Bosserman, Chief Revenue Officer at NOTUS, joined ROKK Partner and Co-Founder Rodell Mollineau for a panel discussion in front of over 20 leading communicators and public affairs professionals in Washington. The discussion was wide-ranging, encompassing how NOTUS is evolving as a Washington media leader, ROKK’s affordability research and what they’re hearing in their reporting in Washington and on the campaign trail.
The Future Of the NOTUS Newsroom
NOTUS launched in early 2024 as a newsroom that reflects America with a focus on non-partisan reporting. Chief Revenue Officer, Brad Bosserman, outlined their recent and future expansion to the DC Communicators Forum. They are adding 30 new reporters with a hunger to join NOTUS’s mission and are excitingly rebranding to The Star later in 2026. This rebrand encapsulates their evolution.
Since launching, NOTUS has developed a robust events and sponsorship offering that reaches bespoke audiences. Their coverage also extends beyond the beltway through partnerships with 12 different local publications that syndicate NOTUS’s reporting, helping more local stories gain traction.
Pocketbook Politics and What to Expect After the Midterms
Jasmine Wright and Alex Roarty provided their take on ROKK’s Pocketbook Politics survey that voters blame the Trump administration and large corporations equally for rising prices. While they see affordability as a key piece of the 2026 midterm cycle, they believe that action from Democrats–should they be in the majority in the House of Representatives or Senate in 2027–will depend on how the party prioritizes issues and actions. If a Democrat-led House moves to impeach the President immediately, economic policy–and all that comes with the process like subpoenas and hearings–will be secondary.
On the issue of affordability, although TrumpRx and Trump accounts have not experienced the same publicity as other initiatives or events, the NOTUS team believes those will be positive pieces of Trump’s economic legacy.
