Account Director

As Account Director, Laura brings to ROKK a wealth of knowledge from spending the last seven years working in the U.S. Congress. During this time, she wore many hats, the most recent being Communications Director for a senior member of the House Appropriations Committee and co-chair of the Congressional Hispanic Conference. 

During her time as Communications Director, Laura ran a communications shop, where she was responsible for creating robust communications strategies, developing crisis communications plans, managing digital platforms, maintaining media relations with local, national, and international media outlets, and distilling complex issues into digestible content in English and Spanish. Laura also served as the lead point of contact for the Congressional Hispanic Conference – facilitating all cross-functional communications and collaborative messaging. 

Laura was born in Havana, Cuba and moved to the United States with her family when she was nine. She grew up in Miami, where she obtained her bachelor’s degree in communications and master’s in public administration. Most recently, she completed the Wharton Public Policy Certificate Program at the University of Pennsylvania.

From serving as the liaison between constituents and federal agencies to overseeing the communications shop for a senior Member of Congress, Laura knows how to engage in constructive dialogue, build relationships, and, ultimately, influence decisions.

Having worked in the communications space during some of the most unprecedented events of our time, Laura knows how to navigate through uncertainty and work collaboratively with individuals from different political perspectives to move the needle on important issues.
