THE HILL: Democrats to Aim Shutdown Fury at Senate Primaries

Furious Democrats are set to train their fire far beyond the eight Senate Democrats who cut a deal to end the shutdown, instead directing their frustration into defeating establishment-leaning candidates in primaries across the country.

None of the Senate Democrats who helped Republicans pass the government funding bill this week are up for reelection in 2026. Nor is Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.), who is bearing the brunt of Democratic blame despite voting against the measure.

Democratic strategist and ROKK Partner Rodell Mollineau shared his thoughts on what 2026 Senate candidates will need to address in the midterm elections in The Hill.
