Grappone comes to ROKK Solutions after leading communications strategy for the Senate Republican Conference – the main messaging vehicle for all 53 Republican senators. As Deputy Staff Director, Grappone served as the top communications advisor to Conference Chairman John Barrasso (R-WY), the third highest ranking Senate Republican, and was instrumental in establishing his Conference leadership operation.
In 2017, President Trump appointed Grappone to serve as the Assistant Secretary for Public Affairs at the U.S. Department of Labor. As the Department’s chief spokesman, Grappone led a team of over 60 communicators in Washington and across the nation. During his time as Assistant Secretary, he designed communications initiatives to advance policies to help American workers, including growing apprenticeship programs, expanding access to affordable work-based health coverage, and strengthening retirement security. Grappone was also responsible for managing communications activities related to the release of market-moving economic data, such as the monthly national jobs report.
Grappone previously served as a senior communicator at Siemens USA’s corporate headquarters in Washington, D.C., where he led communications and media relations initiatives for the Fortune 100 company’s U.S.-based energy businesses.
Grappone’s deep experience also includes leading communications for former U.S. Senator Kelly Ayotte’s (R-NH) winning 2010 Senate campaign and in her official Senate office. Additionally, he was the Press Secretary for former U.S. Senator John E. Sununu (R-NH), a national leader on telecommunications policy.
