Kristen grew up in a family of staunch Texas Democrats, fueling aspirations for a career in Washington that began immediately after her college graduation.
She got into public affairs and strategic communications at global corporate public relations firm Fleishman-Hillard, leading the company’s efforts in Washington, D.C. for SBC Communications, managing all facets of communications as it merged with AT&T.
Next, it was off to Capitol Hill as communications director and chief political advisor to the Blue Dog Coalition, a group of over 50 moderate House Democrats. While there, she developed communications campaigns around energy, budget, tax and healthcare priorities, the Affordable Care Act, Dodd-Frank, TARP and other issues. As spokesperson, she communicated the coalition’s priorities to the media and served as liaison to the White House, the business community and key third-party allies.
Kristen joined ROKK Solutions as a partner in 2020. She specializes in multi-faceted public affairs and corporate communications campaigns, helping our clients integrate government relations, communications and advocacy efforts to achieve their objectives.
If she looks and sounds familiar, it’s because she’s a regular contributor on Fox News, Bloomberg and MSNBC, and is regularly quoted in Washington and national publications including NBCNews.com, CNN.com, Axios, The Hill, The Atlantic, Roll Call, POLITICO and others. Her keen understanding of the political landscape going into the 117th Congress led Bloomberg News to write that Kristen “knows the centrist Democratic movement better than anyone.”
