JAMES NASH
Senior Vice President

As both a reporter and a professional communicator in the two largest U.S. media markets and D.C., James brings a fresh perspective to messaging that’s part Wall Street, part Hollywood and part K Street.
A veteran of the presidential campaign trail as a reporter, as well as three statehouses – Ohio, California and New Jersey – James has an instinctive understanding of U.S. political geography and how messages will resonate among diverse audiences across the country. He also served as communications director for the elected Los Angeles City Controller and as press secretary for the bipartisan National Governors Association.
As Senior Vice President, James applies his diverse experiences to build and execute best-in-class communications strategies on behalf of clients. He is laser-focused on results, doing whatever it takes to accomplish the client’s strategic objectives.
James earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in political science from the University of Michigan and considered either a career in journalism or working in government for elected officials. As it happened, a newspaper hired him before one of his home-state senators could, and he embarked on a journalism career that took him around the country.
WHY JAMES BELONGS IN THE ROOM
He knows how to marshal data and storytelling into powerful narratives that change minds – and policies.
As a Bloomberg News reporter, James expertly combined financial data with personal stories into prize-winning journalism that moved markets and changed how people think about public policies.
He brings real outside-the-Beltway experience and knows how messages play across the country.
James worked as a reporter in his native Michigan, California, Ohio and New Jersey, and crisscrossed the country as a reporter covering the 2016 presidential campaign. As press secretary for the National Governors Association, he represented governors from Guam to Maine, from the most liberal Democrats to the most conservative Republicans.
He understands how to build comprehensive communications strategies that break through the noise.
A veteran of print and digital media, James knows that communications strategies are evolving at warp speed and that communicators are competing for increasingly scarce headspace. James has built dozens of customized plans that align strategies with objectives, finding ways to reach audiences where they are – whether podcasts, social media networks, radio, video, television or print outlets.
He knows how to sniff out vulnerabilities and prevent them from becoming reputational threats.
As a former investigative reporter, James knows where to look for vulnerabilities that could be exploited by press or competitors, and how to stop them from becoming headaches – or worse.
