With her experience working with a local congressional campaign, non-profit organizations, and various research projects, Amira has successfully communicated with donors and volunteers, mobilized voters, and developed programming for different groups. Amira’s participation in numerous organizations on her college campus allow her to display organizational leadership while working within diverse teams and serving as a mentor to her peers.

As an intern, Amira is excited about working with a vide variety of people in efforts to support their larger goals. Amira loves to advocate for people in need and appreciates Rokk’s inclusive and holistic approach to helping their clients. Driven in all of her projects, their result-oriented philosophy appeals to Amira. Amira is most enthusiastic to work on research projects and contribute to communication initiatives. She is looking forward to learning more about the public affairs field as well as getting a taste of what working in DC is like.

Amira is a rising senior at the University of Dayton (Go Flyers!). She is double majoring in Sociology and Criminal Justice and minoring in Africana Studies. Amira is interested in attending law school and pursuing a joint juris doctorate and masters degree.

She is meticulously organized.

While balancing several on campus jobs and serving leadership positions on campus, Amira maintains a strong relationship with her peers and mentors underclassmen students on navigating the challenges of college, particularly during a pandemic. Amira is both a resident assistant to 30 students and a PEERS mentor to two underclassmen students. She organizes her time to make sure she is a part of their support system and facilitates spaces to ensure their academic, social, and personal success.

She takes initiative.

As Vice President of Cultural Engagement for the Multicultural Programming Council at her school, Amira developed their social media page and directed publicity for inclusive and representative events on campus. Now as president of the club, Amira hopes to continue those efforts in the upcoming school year by leading her team of 10 executive board members to expand their club and provide more events that represent her school’s diverse population of students.

She knows how to mitigate risk.

Based on her time as a lead supervisor in campus recreation, Amira is trained on reacting quickly and efficiently to emergency situations. Amira knows how to calmly approach intense situations and work around them to tackle the problem and prevent it from recurring. Collaboration is key!

FUN FACT

As the daughter of a Navy Supply Corps Officer Lieutenant Commander, Amira moved around a lot during her childhood. Her favorite place she’s lived is Virginia but the most exciting place she’s lived is Singapore.
