For as long as Abbey can remember, she has never shied away from the opportunity to tell a good story. From winning a PBS-sponsored writing contest when she was just seven years old to co-producing the first-ever study of women’s experiences in the political technology field, she’s always sought out the chance to bring a narrative to life. 

Abbey knows that governments, businesses and social campaigns rise and fall through the stories that surround them, and has built her career on helping organizations find their authentic voice and reach the audiences that matter most. During her time at BCW (Burson Cohn & Wolfe), one of the world’s largest full-service communications agencies, she advised high-profile private and public sector clients across the financial services, transportation, technology, higher education and public health industries. She also led the firm’s crisis monitoring program and spearheaded thought leadership for the agency’s federal government practice – a labor of love inspired by her internships with the U.S. Department of State and U.S. Marshals Service. 

As a Senior Account Executive at ROKK Solutions, Abbey brings a creative yet analytical approach to crafting communications campaigns that empower clients to navigate tough challenges and seize meaningful opportunities.

Abbey spent her first two years at BCW in the office of the North America President, where she was a trusted partner to the chief executive of the agency’s largest region. As a result, she has a keen ability to translate executive priorities into effective internal communications and thought leadership strategies.

Abbey thrives on bringing people together, especially to rally around important causes. Ask her about how she founded a charity 5K event in her hometown which raised over $100,000 for pediatric cancer research – enough to fund a clinical trial.

As a highly-skilled project manager, Abbey is adept at working efficiently without sacrificing her meticulous attention to detail. Whether it’s organizing a national reporting tour on American entrepreneurship for 20 foreign journalists at the U.S. Department of State or creating savvy social content for Fortune 100 executives, she approaches each project with tenacity and enthusiasm.

Abbey is a third-generation graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill – the personification of the school’s unofficial motto “Tar Heel born, Tar Heel bred and (when I die) TarHeel dead.” She earned a B.A. in Media and Journalism and Peace, War and Defense.
