A LENGTHY VISA PROCESS.
U.S. Travel Association partnered with ROKK Solutions to lead the “They Wait, We Lose” education and advocacy campaign to inform policy makers about problems with the international visitor visa process.
SHOWING THE HUMAN TOLL.
With the goal of reducing excessive wait times for international visitor visas, ROKK developed the website USVisaDelays.com to convey the human toll caused by lengthy international visitor visa processing times. The website is designed in an accessible, user-friendly format and makes it easy for people to share their visa delay stories and how they were negatively affected.
In addition to the crowd-sourced stories, the ROKK team developed content explaining the causes and effects of international visa delays and pitched these talking points to international media, bringing further awareness to the negative economic impact.
SHEDDING LIGHT ON AN UNACCEPTABLE STATUS QUO.
The education and advocacy campaign highlighted the economic toll of the prolonged visitor visa processing times–which ranges from 400 to 800 days in top inbound markets–and pressures decision makers to improve the system and process. While visitor visa delays keep people apart, this campaign brought stakeholders together to show policymakers why the status quo is unacceptable.
LET’S SEE OUR RESULTS
IMPACT: ILLUSTRATING THE TRUE IMPACT OF VISA DELAYS
Individuals and businesses from all over the world shared stories of how extreme visa delays prevent them from seeing loved ones and gaining and retaining international customers. Excessive processing times led some would-be travelers to go elsewhere, meaning that the U.S. is missing out on revenue. This campaign highlighted how that outdated visa process has an economic impact in addition to the emotional toll.
